Red Garden
Anime Review by LaDy BeLzEeNeFRed Garden is a fictional series about four high school students who all attend the same private school set on Roosevelt Island in New York City. Claire, Kate, Rachel, and Rose all wake up one morning feeling uneasy and restless after sharing the same dream but having no recollection of it. Later that day while they are in school, they find out that a classmate of theirs had committed suicide the night before. Wandering around aimlessly, for unknown reasons the girls are all brought together by unknown force and they all end up at the same place and at the same time. The girls all meet a mysterious woman named Lula and her partner JC in which she tells them that they are all dead and if they do not want to disappear from the world altogether, then they must work for them and when the job is completed then maybe they can return to their real bodies!
The story of Red Garden starts out dark and mysterious which is the first reason why I was drawn to this series. It has a good mixture of horror, mystery and of course drama! The story can be a little slow at times, but by episode 16, it all starts to come together and where the fun begins. At 22 episodes this series is very well done. There are some things that I did not care for, for example there are some episodes where some of the characters all of a sudden would break out into a song, which thank god doesn't last very long.

The main characters of this series are Kate, Claire, Rachel, Rose and Lise. Each girl is different and unique in their own way and you get to see how each character develops and how they deal with their problems that are thrown at them. I personally like Kate because throughout the series she starts to become the silent leader of the group. Claire is the more aggressive girls in the group, Rose is the shy one who most of the time lacks the courage to stand up and fight for what she believes in, and Rachel is I think the most annoying one out of the group. She does not want to accept the current situation that she is in and at the beginning wants nothing to do with the rest of the girls. She definitely has her moments where you think she's gone insane but near the middle of the series you start to see a change in her. Lise is the girl's classmate who had committed suicide and who seems to play an important part of the series.
The animation of this series was different but done well. The battle sequences are kind of violent and sometimes jaw dropping but not as bad as you would think from other series that are out there.
There is 1 OP and 2 ED themes. I loved the OP in this series (JiLL-Decoy Association - Jolly Jolly) because when you first hear it, you wouldn't think that this anime is a mystery/horror series and thats what I like about it. The ED's where ok, they really didn't have anything special. The suspense music in the background was great.

Overall, if you are looking for something a little different to watch; a lot of mystery and drama with a good amount of action and don't mind a story about 4 girls who are thrown into the weirdest situation that I've ever heard of, then check out Red Garden!
