Claymore
Anime Review by LaDy BeLzEeNeFClaymore is a story about a young warrior named Clare who is part of a secret organization that fights Youma or demons around the different towns and villages. These warriors are made up of different silver-eyed women with blond hair who are half human and half youma and they are the only ones that are able to defeat the demons. The story starts out with Clare defeating a youma that is terrorizing a nearby village that ends up killing a young boy’s entire family. The young boy, who’s name is Raki is kicked out of the village because the other villagers feared that because of the contact he had with the demon, that he would probably turn into a demon also. Raki now joins Clare as her companion, traveling with her as she battles against the demons. And so let the battles begin!!
The plot in Claymore is really nothing original as it’s just a typical hero/heroine fighting against demons and going on journeys type of story. But don’t let that stop you from watching this great anime. With 26 episodes, claymore is full of action and drama that it definitely keeps you watching till the very end. The battle scenes are great but sometimes it can get pretty gory. However that being said, I did not like the ending to this series because it leaves the viewer feeling like “that’s it?” I was disappointed in how it ended but I hear the manga is much better.

Claymore has got a lot of different characters and they each bring something to the series and you do learn a little bit about each of them. Clare is the main character and you definitely learn about her past and how she became a part of the claymore organization. Even though Raki is her companion and travels with Clare, you really don’t learn a lot about him.
The animation in Claymore is great. The characters are drawn very well and the fight scenes are awesome. There is a lot of blood and guts in this anime so if that is not your cup of tea then just close your eyes during the fight scenes (lol).
Claymore has 1 OP and 1 ED which are both great! The OP, (Nightmare by Raison D’être) is sort of a fast moving song, which definitely gets you pumped for the episode to come and (Riyu Kosaka by Danzai no Hana~Guilty Sky) is just as good as an ending theme. You really never get tired of listening to both tracks, at least in my opinion. Background tracks, sound effects and voice acting were all arranged well and it fits with the dark and dramatic style of this series.

Overall I think Claymore is one of the best anime 2007 had to offer and it definitely had its share of action and drama with blond haired females kicking demon butt! The ending does leave the viewer wanting more, but that should not stop you from watching and enjoying the bumpy ride!
